First of all, you don't need a cheap lawyer....you need the best. Your husband is cleaning you out and you are eligible for half plus money from him in return for everything. You do need to sell the house because you can't afford to stay there on your own but half or more is yours from the sale. 3 and 1/2 months....wow... that has to be the shortest marriage of all time. What were you thinking when you married him!!! Get yourself into a great attorney and start taking back some of your assets and do it quickly. Your husband will also probably have to pay for your attorney fees if your attorney is good enough to push for it. Don't slum it on this issue or you will be left in the dust.
you need to

and you need to get what you can...

you don't say why he filed, but, i'd say it may have something to do with greed

i think there is an online reference you can go to...try starting here http://www.articlemotron.com/Article/How鈥?/a>
Contact your local legal aid assoc for free help if you qualify or a Paralegal if not as he/she is just as good but cheaper than an atty. Youre going to get spousal support from him regardless. Selling of the house is probably the best bet here and since you hve no children involved. Make a list of what you have monetarily put into that house as the court will probably like to see it and send a copy to his attorney as he will get one sooner or later. If you can settle with him outside the court the better for both of you. For now you really dont need an attorney or anything as his attorney will send you papers and you either agrre or disagree with them and modify them as you want and send them back to his atty. One word of advise though, never ever sign or agree to anything from him or his atty until you absolutely agree with it 100%. They cant by law threaten you into such action and the courts really love to know if they do. The cours cant undo anything you sign outside the courtroom so please be sure its exactly what you want here before signing. The law is on your side since its he that wants out and he has to make it worth your while to get that privledge andhe obvisiously has the funds to afford to do so. Sock it to him. Good luck
You don't want a cheap lawyer, you need a good lawyer. And a list of all the things in your home that he removed that he should not have taken because it is still community property. You can also have your attorney to ask for court cost and attorney fees. So, please move quickly about this, you only have a short time to respond.
Well you need to try to get a lawyer who does pro bono work, which is free. Talk to a lwayer and find out if he does any pro bono and if he doesn't see if he know of someone who does. Also he might get to be your lawyer and hvae your husband pay for his fee too. As long as he is willing to help. But try that and see what happens and good luck.
Every state has a bar association, call the bar association and let them know you're looking for an inexpensive lawyer. You can search for it by putting bar association into your search bar on yahoo, I don't know what state you live in to give you the exact address but it should pop up.
Is the house in your name, too? If so, most states require that he keep up the payments. Are there kids? I assume not because of your age and time invested in the marriage. Go find a lawyer that will work and get paid after the divorce. If you live in a community property state, then he has to pay you his half for the house if you are granted it in the divorce. You can sell it and pay the lawyer then. They usually get 1/3 of your settlement. Also, if he filed against you, you can make him pay for your lawyer.
